The Horn Days are an accessible and inclusive event. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced player, you will find a wide range of activities, including workshops, masterclasses, a competition, multi-level horn ensembles, performances, and more!​

Youth Day
Sunday February 15, 2026
High school school students are invited to participate in the entire weekend if they wish. Please note however, that Sunday will feature activities specifically for horn players at this level, such as masterclasses, competitions, horn ensembles, and the grand concert. In addition, on Sunday, students will be accompanied by a mentor for the day.

Competition
Deadline to register:

Two contrasting etudes
(Horner, Kopprasch, etc.)
High School Level
The first movement of Mozart's
2nd, 3rd or 4th Concerto
&
One soloistic etude
(Gallay, King, Barboteu, Reynolds)
or
a solo piece of a maximum duration of 8 minutes
College and University Level

College and University students must be registered in a music interpretation program.

Piano accompaniment will be provided, withtout prior rehearsals.

Winners of the previous edition are not automatically eligible for scholarships.

The registration to the competition is $18

Registration and Payment
How can I register?
Registration can be completed on the Le Point de vente platform by clicking here. Simply select the applicable rate, complete the form, and proceed to payment.

What is the deadline to register?
There is no deadline to register. However, if you wish to participate in masterclasses, horn ensembles or the competition you must register before January 4, 2026.

Can high school students attend both days?
Yes, of course! The registration fee remains the same, $25 for 1 or 2 days,​

I am registered, but I have not received a confirmation email or an e-ticket.
If you have not received a confirmation email, please contact us as soon as possible so we can check everything. If you have received a confirmation email, please note that there are no electronic tickets. Instead, you will be given identification upon arrival at the event.

Can I cancel my registration and receive a refund?
Registration is non-refundable.
Activities
Should I bring my instrument?
Technically, it's not mandatory, but if you want to play in ensembles, it's easier!

I am a beginner, Is there a minimum level required to participate?
All horn players are welcome, regardless of their level. If you have any doubts about participating in an ensemble, please email us and we will be happy to advise you.

May I attend without playing?
Sure!

I indicated that I would like to play in a masterclass. When will I find out the schedule?
Places in the masterclasses are limited. Around mid-January, an email will be sent to the selected horn players to confirm the repertoire and schedule.

Where can I find the assignements for the grand ensemble?
There are no assignments, you can choose whichever part you prefer. You don't have to play the same part for each piece.
How can I tell if I am playing in a small ensemble?
Assignments for small ensembles, including the high school ensemble, are published in the Sheet Music section. This section is password protected. The password was sent to you in the confirmation email following your registration.

Can my parent attend a single activity, such as a masterclass, for example?
Yes, tickets for à la carte activities will go on sale a few weeks before the event.

Can I invite friends and family to the concerts?
Yes, tickets for concerts will go on sale a few weeks before the event.
Useful Information
Where does the event take place?
All activities will take place at the Université de Montréal Music Faculty at 200 Vincent-d'Indy Ave, Outremont H2V 2T2. The reception of participants and most of the activities take place in the Claude-Champagne Hall.

Is there parking?
There will be a few parking spaces available at the Music Faculty, but they are limited, especially on Saturdays. Public transportation remains the best way to get there.
​​
Is the venue accessible to people with reduced mobility?
Yes. People with reduced mobility can be dropped off at the entrance to the Claude-Champagne Hall and have access to an elevator throughout the faculty.
​
Is there a restaurant on site or close-by?
The faculty café is usually open on Saturdays. As there are not many options near the faculty, it is recommended that you bring your own lunch.
